It’s that time again. Time for another Godzilla movie review. Time for the three Godzilla fans in the audience to rejoice and everyone else to despair. This time, Mike Dent and I dish on Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, the penultimate Showa-era Godzilla film. CLICK HERE or on the banner above to download our review of the film, featuring much love for shady Interpol agents and the shaggy King Caesar.

How many Godzilla v. Mechagodzilla movies have there been now, anyway?

Seems like every second Godzilla movie I find is “Godzilla v. Mechagodzilla”….

  2. I agree. Too much ‘Mecha,’ not enough ‘Space’

MechaG is one of Toho’s top earners so that’s why there have been 5 movie’s with him in it.

For the record: the only thing I wrote for the latest special issue of Otaku USA was a sidebar piece to Paul’s Ghost in the Shell feature, and the current page plan doesn’t really have me assigned to anything either. No, nowadays the “writes 1/3 of the magazine” credit goes to Brittany, Danica, and these other non-“mid 2000s podcaster” people whom I can’t claim control/credit over THE WAY I DO FOR PAUL AND MIKE.

I’m always happy to hear your Godzilla podcasts, Paul – I’m not the Kaiju Eiga fan you are, so it’s always interesting to fill in the gaps in my knowledge.

Though Jun Fukuda? Feh – I prefer most of Ishiro Honda’s movies, which at least try to have some seriousness to them. I remember the first time I heard Honda was effectively Akira Kurosawa’s co-director on some of Kurosawa-sama‘s last movies, I made some crack to Tammy about Godzilla showing up and wrestling Giant Toshiro Mifune!

    She Was Not Amused….
