Although I don’t speak Russian myself, I do have something to share In regards to Paul’s comment about the Russian actors being good. A few months ago a Russian friend of mine expressed some interest in the Godzilla movies, so I prepared a viewing series of what I felt were the key Godzilla movies. It was kind of hard not to view Godzilla (1984) as one of the films I’d have to include. I distinctly remember her commenting on how terrible half the Russian actors were. She mentioned that a lot of them had weird accents, sounded like they were just reading the lines off of a teleprompter, or some combination of the two.
Also, I can’t talk about this movie without mentioning the Super-X theme song. It’s a shame that the Super-X2 got a new theme in Godzilla vs Biollante.
Well, Paul, you and Anthony Wendel convinced me to buy the last Blu-Ray of Godzilla Returns available on Amazon! (Well, they said it was, anyway – I suspect they run that regularly so people think they’re getting a steal….) I’ll see how I like it compared to Godzilla 1985, which my best friend Raquel and I saw in the theater….
