Saddle up your burro, because The Valley of Gwangi is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Review in a Nutshell: Essentially a re-telling of King Kong without the troubling racial subtext, The Valley of Gwangi pits real cowboys against stop-motion animation dinosaurs. The visual effects by Ray Harryhausen are outstanding.
Did this movie just come out on a new DVD/Blu-Ray version? Terry Frost of THE MARTIAN DRIVE-IN PODCAST just reviewed it as well….
I missed it in theatres when it came out – I was a kid and remember the posters fondly, but somehow I never got to see it. I think it came out in foreign Army bases (which got movies about the same time as drive-ins Stateside did) about the time we were moving back to the U.S., and by the time my family got settled back home it was gone. I don’t know how it never ended up on television or cable when I was able to see it, either – so I’d like to fix that, if I could.
To answer a question someone mentioned, “Laika” is a studio up in Portland, Or that was originally founded as Will Vinton Studios in the last century. They’re known for the feature films “Coraline” and “ParaNorman”. I saw Coraline personally and loved what they did there and hope they can continue to surprise us with more in the future if they aren’t still in a slump.

I also remember that mammoth sloth thing too Paul! That was one of the things that was featured in this building at the Toledo Zoo, though I probably forgot much of what was there since they tend to bring in new things from time to time.
