cool Tremors is a good one. Happy holidays.
In the interest of fairness, I should note that while I do not generally care for Kevin Bacon (admit it, Hollow Man SUCKED), I watched Death Sentence on Christmas Day with my dad (along with Survive Style 5+, which is in fact an actual Christmas movie). All of the reviews for Death Sentence were negative, but TV’s Patrick Macias strongly recommended it and while I don’t think I’d go so far as to say “finest film of the year” (especially not in a year where Shoot ‘Em Up got made), Death Sentence was definitely a solid effort. Kevin Bacon’s channeling of Paul Kersey and Travis Bickle totally carried the movie. It’s not nearly as violent as I was led to believe, but it almost makes up for Footloose.
ALMOST.
Death Wish 3: Greatest Movie EVER! Let’s do this.
Daryl – did anyone ever say anything good about Hollow Man?
Ever?
Jeremy is not beautiful; he is cute but approachable.
Tremors is good because it follows the monster movie formula perfectly. Part 1. Scary Monster kills a bunch of people. Part 2. The characters learn the weaknesses or limitation of the monster. Stage 3. They fight the Monster.
Wait… Wait… Did I hear Egg Shen? Mother Eff-ing John Carpenter’s “Big Trouble in Little China”. The GREATEST MOVIE EVAR! Where is the love?
I’m ready with my six-demon bag.
Goob,
I’m surprised you didn’t recoginze Micheal Gross. He was the Dad on Family Ties. That would be my reason for watching Tremors; seeing the dad from Family Ties play a nut.
Hello there first time commenting here. Main reason is that i havnt really listened to many episodes that are new as i found this podcast not long ago.
I just wanted to mention that tremors 4 is by far the best of the sequals to tremors.
You should definately watch it (also, it makes no mention of the monsters from part 2 and 3 wich is a good thing for sure)
Death Wish 3. Is that the one where Bronson says: “It’s my car!” and then shoots the guy in cold blood? ’cause that one is indeed great.
It’s fun to stretch the definition of “Christmas Movie” until it squeaks. In our “Christmas Movie” bin, we have ‘Die Hard’, ‘Moonstruck’, and ‘Trading Places’.
When you mentioned self-aware cast changes, it reminded me of the “Due South” episode Burning Down the House. The main character returns from a trip to Canada to discover that his detective partner has been replaced by an impostor, and he spends the whole episode gathering information to expose him to the chief of police.
Why is Daryl Surat being chocked by White Daryl Surat?
Errr, that’s “choked.”
White Daryl is choking Regular Daryl because Regular Daryl does not show the proper appreciation for KEVIN BACON.
Egg Chen = played by Victor Wong. Super cool guy. He used to run with Jack Kerouac. Shows up in one of Jack’s books, but I can’t remember which one right now. Plus he has a Six Demon Bag.
