“Kwantsu, Dudes!”

Wax up your surf boards, because Surf Ninjas is The Greatest Movie EVER!

Click on the movie poster or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Sean “Hollywood” Hunting and his Ernie Reyes Jr fetish.

Review in a Nutshell:  A goofy premise, good action choreography, and jokes that work more often than not make Surf Ninjas a surprisingly entertaining film.  All that and it has Leslie Nielsen getting crushed by an elephant, too.

This movie contains:

Ernie Reyes Jr.

Ernie Reyes Sr.

Cyborg Samurai Leslie Nielsen.

This is a weird review. I’m surprised to hear this movie is actually good. Help me out here Paul, should I put this in my queue?

  2. Ian says:

I got this one confused with 3 Ninjas. Stupid, I know. This one looks better.

  3. VichusSmith says:

If you like martial arts film and you don’t mind watching a silly adventure, then you should take a look at Surf Ninjas.

  4. Firest says:

Great podcast. I’ll definitely have to look this one up.

It’s good to hear that Leslie Neilson is good in this. I think his career started to slide downhill when he stopped working with the Airplane guys.

And I was surprised to hear that we just had to keep pestering you in order to get you to review a movie.

In that case…Split Second. Split Second. Split Second. Split Second. Split Second. Split Second. Split Second. Split Second….

  5. vichussmith says:

I don’t think Leslie Nielsen is completely mad that he started doing wacky dumb spoof movies. Most people wouldn’t know him otherwise.

  6. Firest says:

I’m not saying that he’s mad for doing the wacky spoof movies, they revitalized his career. But he is mad for making them for people who can’t make good ones.

Kung Fu Panda was the BEST Kung Fu picture Hollywood put out this year, can’t wait for the sequel. I eat Shaw Bros for Breakfast and Golden Harvest is my fourth meal, when is the next Shaw Bros review?

“I eat Shaw Bros for Breakfast and Golden Harvest is my fourth meal, when is the next Shaw Bros review?”

So what do you do for Second Breakfast, Luncheon, and Afternoon tea?

  9. VichusSmith says:

BTW, Bubba the Love Sponge is not a good example to use for anything, including comedy.

  10. Firest says:

Not the best of reviews. They spend most of the half-hour talking about how great Eighties movies are and much of the rest on Split Seconds set design (which is top notch considering the movie’s budget) ignoring everything else good about the film.

“Kung Fu Panda was the BEST Kung Fu picture Hollywood put out this year”

This year? More like since the Matrix. Everything is f@*king shaky cam and jump cuts these days, with this summers The Expendables being a particularly egregious example.

  11. vichussmith says:

Kung Fu Panda couldn’t be the best martial arts film this year, not because it’s unworthy of the title, but because it came out in 2008.

  12. Sugar-Chan says:

Paul Thomas Chapmen, if you let someone else do Judge Dredd/Demolition Man, I am going to find a way to get to Florida, go to your job, and stare at you in an awkward way for an uncomfortable length of time.

Demolition Man is my most favoritest movie, though I don’t know why you mention Rob Schneider for it. He had a couple of really cute moments in that, but he was so minor. Unlike Judge Dredd, when he was the sidekick.

Also, in the ensuing weeks that I will be off work and taking care of my impending child, I am also planning on working on my OWN stuff…and I may beat you to the ‘Last Dragon’, only because its mah baby daddy’s favorite movie ever made. The review won’t be intellectual or amazing, but that ain’t gonna stop me from talkin’ about it!

  13. Eduardo M. says:

Sugar, if anyone is doing Demolition Man, its ME. You can have Judge Dread, but only I can be a worthy partner to the Almighty Gooberzilla in reviewing the adventures of John Spartan and his quest to understand the 3 seashells

  14. Zzasrix says:

Good review. I think I wore out the VHS on this one. Gameboy Ninjitsu is definatly something I need more of in my life.

Sean, you must see Kung-fu Panda. I’ll be looking forward to that podcast.

  15. Leslie neilson says:

best movie about surfing and ninjas ever
