Great discussion, guys. I’d say that the last successful film satire was “Being There,” starring Peter Sellers. Paul was dead-on, though saying that most people don’t get satire. I took a graduate course in Satire, and one of my fellow students said, “Yeah, but if you really listen to what Chance is saying, he’s brilliant.” I had to tell him that No, if you really listen to what Chance is saying, he’s an idiot. That’s the whole point of the book.
