Faster, Robot! Kill, Kill!

Hold onto your ice cream cones, because Chopping Mall is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Review in a Nutshell:  A low budget slasher flick produced by Roger Corman and directed by Jim Wynorski, Chopping Mall is better than it has any right to be.  The killer robots steal the show.

This movie contains:

Chewing Gum.

The thing that sticks with me about this one is that when the guy is selling the mall on the robots he totally forgets to mention the lasers. Lasers are an excellent selling point. I think: “”Chopping Mall” oh yeah the movie with the awful robot salesman.”

So how to they handle a flight of stairs? Are they like Classic WHO Daleks?

NIGHT OF THE COMET is – curious, Paul. Tammy loved it because Catherine Mary Stewart was an ass-kicking girl hero who knew how to use a submachinegun – at a time when that was a pretty rare character beat. (Gee – Tamora Pierce likes a weapon-wielding female. Who’ve thunk it…?)

I thought it was okay, but felt it flinched when it should have gone for the jugular. It was a family-friendly zombie movie, which is an oxymoron, and that may explain why it bored you….

Thinking about the whole mall thing from a today’s perspective, it is a shame to see how it has changed certainly, though I felt I probably already saw that happened with department store anchors themselves once they got out of selling electronics, music and other things I would care to buy in them. A department store without an electronics department is no fun for me.

Yeah, Chris – going through Macy’s or Sears now is such a disappointment, what with no electronics section to speak of any more. There’s some television sets and a smattering of game consoles, but that’s about it….
