Review in a Nutshell: The debut film of Dario Argento, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970) is a stylish nod to Hitchcock’s suspense films with a sleazy Italian giallo twist. Come for the murder, stay for the social commentary.

I thought that was an odd tangent about “the American dream” for an Italian film set in Italy. I also don’t think the film has anything to do with “the lie of the middle-class”, it’s just a suspense thriller without much interest in such topics.
