Get ready to face your fears, because Galaxy of Terror is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Click on the DVD cover or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Katherin the Great.

Review in a Nutshell:  A sometimes trashy, sometimes gruesome science fiction / horror movie with great production design and a well-rounded cast of character actors, Galaxy of Terror is half Alien rip-off and half homage to 1950s films like Forbidden Planet.  Watch it if you dare.

This film contains:

galaxy01

Robert Englund, Space Commando.

galaxy02

Eewie-gooey.

First Roger Corman film I ever saw this one; arguably my favourite of the Alien derivatives from this period. Katherin is a real trooper for sitting and watching films like this with you Paul, shame my brother would never do the same thing. He did sit through this with me though. XD

Either way, gotta love Galaxy Of Terror. 🙂

  2. Ryan Drouillard says:

Paul, I am impressed that you can ask you little sister to watch a horror sci-fi movie which is famous for a slug rape scene and not feel totally awkward.

So, you gor Kat to watch Deathstalker then GoT; what is next in the weird sexual movie to get her to watch? I suggest La Possession just to confuse the hell out of her.

  3. Jung-ho says:

I guess I disagree — I didn’t appreciate the master stuff as world-building but saw it more as distracting and convoluting the clean, simple “astronauts get eaten” formula set by Alien

Oh, brother – I remember this one! I had no idea what I was letting myself in for when I saw this film – I figured a cheap knockoff of an ALIEN style monster that I’d be safely amused by, rather than something that (in Sid Haig’s case, literally!) got under the skin! Got to give this movie props, in a way – it took a collection of fears that people could sort of relate to, and exploited them for all it was worth.

I – don’t know how on Earth you got Katherin to sit through this movie with you, Paul…or how you lived to tell the tale.

  5. Óscar says:

Nightmare city or as it’s gleefully known in Spain: La invasión de los zombies atómicos. ¡Feliz Navidad desde Europa!

  6. Firest says:

Ah, I was wondering what strategy you were going to employ to get Katherine to watch this one.

Exploiting her ignorance and lack of internet savvy…well played, well played. 😀

  7. vichussmith says:

I never knew of this movie, but I had to see what the deal was with this worm scene. It’s on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UlBhg1tPvM) and…wow. Hentai animators shed a tear at such sleaze. That is one of the most uncomfortable things you can sit and watch with anyone.

  8. Kidd says:

Have you changed microphones or EQ settings for this recording? Something about both your’s and Kat’s voices sounded different.

  9. gooberzilla says:

There weren’t any changes to the microphones, mixer settings, or post-production editing processes, so I don’t know what the difference you’re hearing is or where it came from.

  10. Perhaps my general level of disgust and horror was distorting the sound 🙂 Also, I’ll be sure to Google every potential movie and check the GME Facebook page prior to agreeing to any particular podcast in the future … never again will I be caught unaware!

  11. vichussmith says:

This must be a New Year’s resolution, because I KNOW it’s going to be broken.
