Ouroboros Pulp Rip-Off?

Load up your double-barrel sawed-off shotgun (and never fire it), because King Solomon’s Mines (1985) is probably not the Greatest Movie EVER.

Click on the movie poster or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Katherin the Great.

Review in a Nutshell: While not the worst Indiana Jones cash-in nor the worst adaptation of H. Rider Haggard’s Allan Quatermain novels, the Canon Film Group’s version of King Solomon’s Mines is a serious contender for those titles. It’s really, really, really bad. Seriously, why is that giant spider lurking inside an active volcano?

Like I said on FB, Paul, Tammy and I never saw this for some reason. She kind of wanted to, too, b/c she loved Richard Chamberlain as Aramis in THE THREE/FOUR MUSKETEERS – and this was when Sharon Stone was a promising actress, rather than Every Guy’s Castration Anxiety Made Flesh….

There’s a discussion going on in the AV Club about Fincher’s movie of GONE GIRL – which sound an awful lot like the “think pieces” that came out in the wake of BASIC INSTINCT. 😮

PS: Really looking forward to hearing Katherin’s meltdown over this one! 😉

I just wanted to leave some positive feedback, i have been a fan easily for 5 years now, i discovered your podcast by accident years ago, even though i dont leave the feedback i should. Let me just say your podcast is something i look forward. In fact i have easily over a hundred on my smart phone at any given day. I love you godzilla review the most. And with you ever changing cohosts. Especially your m.o.m.

What Brian Lee said, Paul. 🙂

You realize we wouldn’t come on and argue with you if we weren’t engaged in your podcast, right? We really like your show, even when we really REALLY don’t agree with you…or Katherin…or Sean….

Mom? We ALWAYS agree with Mom! 😀
