Stomp Romp / Zilla Thrilla: Electric Jazz Hands

Hold on to your magical red berry juice, because King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Click on the banner or the movie title above to download our review of the film, featuring author Anthony Wendel.

Review in a Nutshell: While not director Ishiro Honda’s best Godzilla-related work, King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) deserves credit for innovating the franchise in ways that established patterns that ran throughout the Showa Era.

Bonus Episode: Jaeger Bomb

Fire up your giant robots and get ready to “drift”, because Pacific Rim: Uprising is (probably not) the Greatest Movie EVER!

Click on the movie poster or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Gerald Rathkolb of AnimeWorldOrder.

Review in a Nutshell: A film filled with baffling narrative and editorial decisions, Pacific Rim: Uprising is a prime example of what happens when artistic choices give way to financial and marketing ones.

Stomp Romp / Zilla Thrilla: Banished to Space Crystal Prison

Hang on to your drill bits, because Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Click on the banner image or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring featuring Franklin Raines of Oddity Game Seekers.

Review in a Nutshell: A film that is at once incredibly simplistic and needlessly convoluted, Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla is less of a movie-going experience and more a springboard for discussion about what happens when giant monster movies go wrong.

Stomp Romp / Zilla Thrilla: Do Not Sass Godzilla

You can’t keep a good (or even a mediocre) Godzilla down, and this time we’re looking at the aptly named Godzilla 2000 (aka Godzilla: Millenium), the first entry in Toho’s “Millenium” series of giant monster movies. CLICK HERE or on the banner above to join Jeremy and I was we share our experiences of seeing Godzilla in the theater and as we apply a perhaps too-critical lens to a movie featuring noodly space aliens and Hiroshi Abe’s impeccable fashion-sense.

Stomp Romp / Zilla Thrilla: Heisei Lepidopteran Shenanigans

It’s Christmas, and this year we bring the gift that keeps on giving when Tom and I talk about the 1992 Godzilla vs. Mothra: The Battle for Earth, not to be confused with the 1964 Mothra vs. Godzilla. CLICK HERE or on the banner above to here us muse about giant moths, overly invasive archaeology, and what dating prospects should await anyone who dares to kidnap the Cosmos.

Stomp Romp / Zilla Thrilla: The Merry Adventures of Muddy Mudskipper

The years-spanning (annual?) tradition continues with the next entry of Stomp Romp / Zilla Thrilla as Mom and I take breathless look at the 2016 Hideaki Anno / Shinji Higuchi joint, Shin Godzilla. CLICK HERE or on the banner above to download our review of the film, which features much discussion on Japanese politics, “scrap and rebuild”, and the imagery of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

Emergency Podcast System: Pacific Rim

Get back in your giant robot, because Pacific Rim is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Click on the movie poster or the title above to download our review of the film,

featuring Thomas Pandich of Tomics! By Tom!!! and the Alter Ego’s podcast.

Review in a Nutshell: If you have any affection in your heart for super robot anime or giant rubber monsters, you owe it to yourself to check out Pacific Rim. It has some of the best special effects and production design you’re likely to see for some time, and it manages to be uplifting and hopeful rather than gritty and grimdark.

Don’t act like you didn’t see this coming…

Place your bets on your favorite giant marauding reptile, because Komodo vs Cobra is the Greatest Movie EVER!

Review in a Nutshell: Unlike The Curse of the Komodo from the same director, Glori-Anne Gilbert does not get naked in this film.  Also, there are giant, computer generated endangered species, and they fight.
