Review in a Nutshell: A technically adept film with outstanding visual composition and moments of genuine humor, Scott Pilgrim vs the World is nonetheless dragged under by an onslaught of unsympathetic characters. It is the triumph of style over substance.

Review in a Nutshell: Batman (1989) is an uneven, sometimes idiosyncratic film that in some sense set the pattern for later superhero movies, for good or for ill. Although the Nolan films have eclipsed the work of Tim Burton and his cast and crew in the pop culture consciousness, this version of Batman was instrumental in reintroducing the Dark Knight to an entire generation of movie-goers.

Review in a Nutshell: A super hero film from a more innocent time, Supergirl seems painfully unsophisticated by modern standards. Nonetheless it has some interesting imagery and a plot that can best be described as “completely bonkers”.

Review in a Nutshell: Ridiculous nudity, bad physics, henchmen with villainous hair, Ron Silver stealing every scene he’s in, and Jean Claude doing the splits. Truly, TIMECOP is the apex of Western film.

Review in a Nutshell: Far from being a ‘betrayal’ or ‘the worst Superman movie’, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is a movie with big ideas and a tiny, tiny budget. It remains the favorite Superman of both cohosts, whose taste as we all know is impeccable.

Review in a Nutshell: Avengers is one of only a handful of Marvel animated properties that does justice to the source material. It’s a great animated series that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, with sharp writing and strong characterization.
FINAL THOUGHT:
The theme song is @#$%ing terrible, though.

Review in a Nutshell: Nostalgia notwithstanding, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles holds up surprisingly well for a children’s film. The action and humor are solid, and the special effects and puppetry still look great even 20+ years later.
