It’s Super Bowl Sunday, and what could be more in the spirit of friendly athletic competition than a muddled Sunrise mecha anime with a weak narrative focus and disturbingly xenophobic undertones? CLICK HERE or on the banner above to download our review of Gasaraki, a 1998 science fiction TV anime with direction by mecha master Ryosuke Takahashi. In it, we talk about the price of wheat, clunky robots with sand in their joints, and HOLY CRAP! ALIENS!.

Monitor your processor run times, because Appleseed: Alpha is the Greatest Movie EVER!
Click on the Bluray cover or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Dave and Joel from Fast Karate for the Gentleman.
Review in a Nutshell: Appleseed: Alpha has excellent visual design and some good character moments, but a weak antagonist, a derivative plot, and far too little action. Still, it has cyborgs driving things, so A+ / 5 Stars / Would Buy from Again.
Final Thought:
Oh, Two Horns. You so crazy.

Always wear your seatbelt, because Repo Man is the Greatest Movie EVER!
Click on the Bluray cover or the movie title above to download our review of the film, featuring Sean “Hollywood” Hunting.
Review in a Nutshell: A confluence of punk rock anarchy and self-deprecating suburban cynicism, Repo Man is also a high concept, low budget science fiction film with a bizarre sense of humor and an avante-garde edge. It’s the kind of film that could only have come from the early Eighties.

Hold onto your sanity, because Dark City is the Greatest Movie EVER!
Click on the Bluray cover or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring guest hosts
Daryl Surat of AnimeWorldOrder and Mike Toole of Anime News Network.
Review in a Nutshell: Few works of cinematic speculative fiction deserve the word ‘visionary’ to describe their aesthetic. Dark City is one such film, although Paul deducts a few points for the bombastic nature of the movie’s conclusion.

Boot up your computer-generated parrots, because Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future is the Greatest Movie EVER!
Click on the Japanese DVD cover or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Andrew from The Veef Show and Collection-DX.
Review in a Nutshell: Low budget but groundbreaking, 20 Minutes into the Future is one of the few films that really deserves the term ‘cyberpunk’. It has a droll, British sense of humor and great production design, and I highly recommend it to anyone that can manage to track it down.

Hook up the electrodes, because Dreamscape is the Greatest Movie EVER!
Click on the movie poster or the title above to download our review of the film, featuring Sean “Hollywood” Hunting.
Review in a Nutshell: Aside from a questionable “dream invasion” or two, Dreamscape is a fun little film that plays with the idea of psychic powers and dream manipulation. Despite having a small budget, it has numerous strong performances and some decent special effects.
